How has the lockdown been treating you? While there has been a lot of uncertainty and internal turmoil around, with everyone across age groups saying, it’s the first time we are witnessing something like this. Truth be told, I too am hearing this in my home.
Well, the time has changed, and so have we. What we are not realizing is that the activities and routine we are following right now would not end with the lockdown but will continue for a longer time. Remember the famous narration, “it takes 21-days to create a habit?”
Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, WhatsApp – and whatever another way you communicate, we know for sure – you have taken up cooking and are on a track to become the next Masterchef. PS: there’s no pun intended – I too have taken up cooking and it’s an absolute delight and breaks the lockdown monotony.
Data Says It
With the initial data and reports we are seeing & reading around how the Food Businesses will go from here, there has been a massive drift in how we (the consumers) are going to eat out. While everyone is dining on home-cooked MEALS (lunches and dinners), there has been a significant rise in the healthy foods category. More so specific, healthy snacks. Health food is the new normal. Overall healthy wellbeing has become more pertinent now, than ever.
The silver lining of the lockdown: our community has adapted to healthier eating habits quicker than the usual adoption cycle. We are glad! As the preachers of health food, here’s why we think this rise is good:
Immunity-Boosting:
Not just to satiate our hunger buds, we need to focus on food that helps build immunity, naturally. Superfoods like Soyabean, all kinds of seeds, Jaggery, etc. contain high levels of antioxidants and other nutrients that help in boosting immunity.
Need to be tough to face pandemics:
Not just limiting to COVID-19, for a healthy and fit life, we need to be strong on our immunity with enough antibodies generating in our system to face pandemics like the current one, headstrong.
Digestive Health:
With almost no movement happening due to the lockdown, it is essential we eat clean and eat just right. Snacks like Seeds Mix, Millets, Brown Rice Flakes, Chia Seeds have anti-inflammatory properties that help keep our digestive system fit. Remember, all health issues start with our stomachs?
Calorie check:
Sitting put in one place makes our neurons push towards constant eating and munching. While it’s not easy to control the neurons, it’s easier to dodge them with healthy food – a guilt-free delight for you to help keep those extra calories in check.
We are Witnessing the Same
The above are just a few reasons for how you and we as consumers are thinking and acting. It is moving data charts to a higher point on scale for the consumption of healthy snacks. Let it sprung up! We at Omay, are too witnessing the same. We restarted our operations only in the last week and have already fulfilled hundreds of orders during this time. The average shopping cart is seeing more snack jars than in previous times. Well, it’s good for you and everyone else. Let’s continue to eat healthy and stay fit.
Stay fit, and stay strong,
Vijay Katta
